The Pacific Lung Research Centre is currently conducting studies in various respiratory disease areas, including Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (Bronchitis and Emphysema), Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis, Chronic Cough, Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma and various other areas.
Physicians, please contact the Research Office at 604 806-9465 if you would like to refer a patient for a study, or to discuss any of these clinical trials with the research staff.

What is a Clinical Trial?
A clinical trial is a scientific study that tests the effectiveness and/or safety of a treatment, device or drug.
Is it safe to participate in a Clinical Trial?
The safety and well-being of all participants is always the primary concern in all studies. Any medication, whether prescribed by your doctor, or bought “over-the-counter” (without a prescription) can potentially cause some side effects. When participating in a clinical trial at the Pacific Lung Research Centre (PLRC), you will be closely monitored throughout the study. It is also important that you closely follow the study procedures discussed with you.
What do I have to do if I participate?
It depends on the study. Generally, you are required to come to the PLRC for one or more visits, where you will different types of tests related to your breathing problem. This may include: blood tests, breathing tests, walking tests and questionnaires about your disease. When you are interviewed to see if you are qualify for a study, you will be given all the details, and have lots of time to ask questions.
