Vision: "To improve quality of life in patients diagnosed with COPD through consistent care across the healthcare continuum."
Mission: The mission of the COPD clinic is to become a world-class facility with state of the art clinical services, education, training and research in COPD.
Goals:
- Clinical Care:
- The clinic will provide comprehensive evaluation of the patient's COPD status by respirologists in the clinic
- The respirologists will recommend/implement management strategies in conjunction with the primary physician including treatment plans for:
- Medication
- Oxygen therapy
- Rehabilitation
- Nutrition
- Surgery
- The clinic will provide pre-operative evaluation of COPD patients when required.
- The clinic will provide state of the art, comprehensive continual care for COPD patients.
- Education:
Education will encompass a broad spectrum and will be patient focused. Three key areas of education delivery will include:
- Patient Education
- Education of Health Care Professionals
- Public Education and Awareness of COPD
- Research:
- Establish a comprehensive clinical database of COPD patients.
- Conduct clinical and basic science research to improve the quality of life and outcomes of COPD patients.
