combined scleroderma/pulmonary arterial hypertension clinic: pacific lung health centre

Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) sometimes occurs in scleroderma patients. Pulmonary hypertension is elevated blood pressure in the artery that carries the blood from the heart to the lungs due to narrowing of the blood vessels.

The aim of the Combined Clinic is to bring together an expert group of specialists to discuss and determine optimal care for this very select group of patients. The clinic will provide comprehensive evaluation of the patient's status and will recommend/implement management strategies. Patients are often scheduled for a high resolution CT scan, echocardiogram, pulmonary function test and 6 minute walk test prior to their visit.
