pulmonary rehabilitation/respiratory rehabilitation at St. Paul's hospital
The Respiratory Rehabilitation program provides education and exercise training for patients with chronic lung disease, to assist them with symptom management and improve their daily ability to function. Located at St. Paul's Hospital, this physiotherapy services based program includes a multi-disciplinary team comprised of a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist, a dietician and a respiratory therapist. Patients with a diagnosis of emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, bronchiectasis or cystic fibrosis can be referred by their respirologist or family physician.
The program runs 5 or 6 sessions per year. Each session is 6 weeks long with 2 visits per week for 2 hours each visit (1 hour education and 1 hour exercise training). Class size is limited to 10 participants per session and the classes take place in the Physiotherapy Department in the Burrard Building at St. Paul 's Hospital.
